The Greater Bangor Region: A Destination For Sports Of All Kinds 

Area colleges, including the University of Maine, Husson University, and Eastern Maine Community College, offer exciting sporting events for fans of all ages. Catch an action-packed ice hockey game at UMaine’s Alfond Arena or a baseball or football game at Husson University’s Winkin Sports Complex. 

In February, Bangor hosts the wildly popular Maine high school basketball tournament and cheering competition. Fans and players from across the state flood the Bangor area with excitement during school vacation week.

Our indoor and outdoor facilities are ideal locations for basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, cheering, lacrosse, and other conventional sports. The surrounding terrain and waterways in and out of Bangor are just right for archery, dogsledding, biking, sailing, canoeing, and much more. The Bangor area is a great fit for sporting events of all sorts and sizes.

Along with the university systems, the Bangor area is home to many other recreational facilities. Mansfield Stadium was the host of the Senior League World Series from 2002-2017. This site is a terrific location for hosting any type of baseball event. A few miles from Mansfield is the Union Street Athletic Complex, which is comprised of three softball fields and also has soccer capabilities. Another terrific facility in Bangor is the Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway, which features live harness racing.
